Name: Itzpapalotl/Mariposa Ennegrecida
Species: Goddess (Human Build)
Sexual orientation: ???
Age: Centuries old, appears to be around 30.
Her design explained from head to toe:
-antlers for her nagual which is a deer
-pink flames that burn with the passion of love
-hangs beads on strings from her antlers to act like a mobile of sorts for the infants
-eyes are white like the milk that flows through her land
-skin is a fine, smooth, mixture of obsidian and flint which comes from her Aztec name
-sacred heart on forehead and flowers on cheeks to represent budding life that infants also symbolize
-wears rebozo because it can be used to swaddle and carry a baby multiple ways
-wings for her name which means clawed/black butterfly (bats were often called this)
-her skirt shows images of her land such as the large tree at the center of it and the milk that flows freely from it. It also has a hidden jaguar in it because she was occasionally associated with those too.
Personality: She is gentle and extremely sweet- to infants. While her temper almost never shows when she’s in her own land the second she has to deal with anyone over the age of 3 her wrath shows. She has a short temper for mortals, especially ones that endanger the helpless. She’s even been known to snap at her fellow deities, often yelling at those that add to her world’s population- even if it is just their job.
Likes: Infants (especially their laughter), wind chimes, extremely milky desserts, peaceful nights, the colors pink and red
Dislikes: Upset children, anyone who would dare endanger a baby, loud noises, extremely bright lights
Bio: As a human she was an infertile midwife who wanted nothing more than to have children of her own. When she found that one of the children she had helped raised was going to be sacrificed she instead demanded that she be taken in its place. Through her love and sacrifice she was exalted to become the goddess of sacrifice and ruler of Tamoanchan- the paradise for victims of infant mortality.
Extras: She doesn’t really understand that the people that make life do not usually have the power to take life away and often yells at them for “creating life only to blow it out minutes later”.
Accessories: The string and beads she often keeps on her are what she ties to her antlers for the children to watch and play with. It adds a bit more color to her otherwise dark features as well.
